What I’m about to tell you is the most powerful secret in the world when it comes to success. If you apply this secret to anything you do, you WILL be successful. Virtually all self-made millionaires and billionaires apply this principal in their lives. In fact, I would say that to achieve any goal in life, no matter how big or small, you NEED to do this one thing to succeed.
No, it’s not having a talent to make important decisions, an ability to solve problems, or having an “eye” for business. The most powerful thing in the world to achieve any of your goals is…
Never settling for second best and NEVER QUITTING until your goals have been met and surpassed.
“Ambition is the path to success. Persistence is the vehicle you arrive in.”
– Bill Bradley
Maybe you’re thinking, “Yeah, yeah. I get it. Don’t give up and you’ll be rich…yada yada.” But have you seriously thought about how powerful persistence is in achieving success? Let’s look at why persistence is so powerful when you use it to achieve your dreams.
Reason #1: Action + Intelligent Action = Results
First of all, being persistent means you are constantly and consistently TAKING ACTION. Instead of just wishing and dreaming to be successful, you are actually working to make it real. Taking action is NECESSARY for you to accomplish your goals.
Take action right away! DO NOT WAIT to take action if you have a desire to achieve something, or if you have a great idea or plan. The VERY MOMENT you are inspired with an idea, desire, or goal is the VERY MOMENT you need to do something about it.
Successful people not only take action, but they take CONTINUOUS ACTION. They don’t stop until their hit their goals and even surpass them. They DO NOT STOP if something doesn’t go according to plan.
Even if they made a huge “mistake” and have to start over from scratch, they keep pressing forward. Instead of feeling like they are failures, they take a step back to see what they can learn from their experiences. This brings me to the second benefit of persistence.
Reason #2 –Learning As You Go
There is a very famous story about Thomas Edison and his dream to create a long-lasting and commercially producible light bulb. He tried thousands of times without success. Instead of getting discouraged and giving up, he kept taking action and learning from his “mistakes.”
In his words, “Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.” Because of his attitude and his persistence, millions of people around the world can light up their homes with the flip of a switch.
Action alone is not enough though. While taking action immediately is the key to success, you have to know that you will probably face many obstacles and even make mistakes along the way. If you do make mistakes, remember that it’s totally okay and a natural learning process.
Take a small step back from what you are doing and see what your “mistake” is trying to teach you. Mistakes are either your greatest teacher or your greatest enemy. Which one it will be is totally your decision.
Learn what you can, improve what you can, and keep moving forward towards your goals.
Reason #3 –The Momentum of Success
Persistence is continuous action. Taking continuous action builds momentum. The more you do, the more you will WANT TO DO. And as you do more, your ability to DO MORE will increase. It’s just a like muscle. The more you use it, the stronger you get.
I don’t care how busy you are or what other excuse you have. If you have a goal that you want to achieve, do one thing today towards that goal. In fact, do it right after you read this article. Don’t hesitate. Do it now……….okay seriously, go do it!
If you do just ONE THING right now towards you goals, you will be one step closer to achieving it. It doesn’t matter what you do. Just do something. If you have trouble get started, you should start with something small.
You can just write down one of your goals. Or make one phone call. Or just do one search online that can help you achieve your goal. Once you get started, you’ll feel like doing more. It is important that you continue taking action.
Try to do one or two more things tomorrow that will help you with your goal. Then do that again the next day. If you keep with it and get into a habit of working on your goals, you’ll eventually do more and more each day. All of the success you want in life starts today, right now. So get to it and make all of your dreams come true!
