Is My Online Business Empire A Scam?
Name: My Online Business Empire (MOBE)
Price: $49 to start, followed by lots of upsells costing thousands of dollars
Skill Level: Beginners who don’t know better.
Owner: Matt Lloyd
Overall Rating: 5 / 100 – Scam! Stay Away!
What is My Online Business Empire (MOBE)?
My Online Business Empire is a company that offers online training products, services, and live events that are supposed to make you lots of money even if you don’t have experience in marketing or online business.
Does MOBE Work? Is It Worth My Time?
I’ll get straight to the point. MOBE is an absolute waste of your time and money. It is a shady company that uses deceptive methods to get you to spend your hard earned money.
In my opinion, MOBE is unethical and their members only care about making money, even if they have to scam people to get it. MOBE is a SCAM if I have ever seen one.
Why is MOBE a SCAM? What Makes It Bad?
It costs $49 to get access to the 21 step training on MOBE. They make it sound like this is all you need to make thousands of dollars. Well, what they don’t tell you is that after you pay this initial fee, you’ll be asked (pressured) to purchase a TON of upsells during your training that are supposed to make you more money.
How much are these upsells you ask? Well, if you were to buy all of them, it will cost you nearly $24,000.00.
Yes, you read that right. TWENY-FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS. $23,855.95 to be exact. And here is the best thing about that. Some of these purchases are reoccurring monthly charges too. So if you bought all of the upsells they throw in your face, you’ll be looking at a payment of $24,000 PLUS $310.00 PER MONTH.
I don’t know about you, but his alone will make me run for the hills and not look back. However, since I’m claiming that this program is a scam, I need to back my claims with more than just their outrageous costs.
How Do You Make Money with MOBE?
You go to a store looking for something to buy for yourself. The salesman there brings out this beautiful box, and tells you that it’s a money making machine. It can produce money legally, and by the thousands of dollars.
You ask to see what’s inside the box, but the salesman says you can only open the box if you buy it. He assures you that you can make lots of money with it. Of course this interests you, so you end up buying it.
You’re excited and hurry home to open the box and see what’s inside. To your surprise, you open the box and there’s only a piece of paper with writing on it. It says, “sell this box to someone with the same sales pitch I gave to you. Then you’ll make lots of money.”
How angry would you be? Wouldn’t you go right back to that store and ask for a refund? Well guess what?
This is essentially what MOBE is.
You pay for a license to sell MOBE to other people. And how do you make your money back? You sell some innocent person the same license you just bought!
Can you say “pyramid scheme?”
Paying to be an Affiliate? A Huge Red Flag…
You should NEVER HAVE TO PAY to be an affiliate of any company. Any company that charges you to be an affiliate has a very good chance that it is a scam. Any affiliate program that you join should be FREE.
MOBE Gets in the Way of True Success Making Money Online
I firmly believe that if you choose to market a product, it should be because you think that it can provide your customers with value.
For example, I’m an affiliate with the Wealthy Affiliate community. I truly believe in this program, because out of all the things I have tried to make money online, Wealthy Affiliate was by far the best and most legit training out there.
It actually teaches you how to build a sustainable and real business that makes money. It gives you value for your money, and is ALL YOU NEED to find success making money online. There are no upsells and unrealistic expectations. Just great training guides, a very active and helpful community, and hard work on your part. It GIVES VALUE to each of its members.
MOBE on the other hand TAKES VALUE from their customers. You have to sell people a liability just to make a quick buck.
Members who are happy making money with MOBE either are ignorant to what they are really doing or don’t care about scamming people out of their money.
I wonder if they have ever stopped and thought about who they are getting their money from. There are mothers, fathers, daughters, sons, grandparents, and unemployed people out there looking for a real opportunity to make money from home. Companies like MOBE that are set up to take people’s money through unethical methods upsets me.
Don’t Fall for Their Hype
Even though MOBE has all of the warning flags of a scam program, their marketing video sparked my interest and I decided to look more into it.
When you sign up for their 21 step course, they promise that you’ll make a commission in 30 days. It is implied that you’ll make thousands of dollars in commission.
If you don’t make a commission, after you complete all of the 21 steps, they will pay you $500 bucks. Sounds like a great deal right?
What they don’t tell you is that on step 6, you have to pay for the license to sell MOBE, which costs $1997.00. If you don’t buy it, you can’t go on to the next step, which makes you ineligible to collect the $500.
If you do finish the 21 steps and don’t make any money, you may get the $500, but you’ll still be out $1497.
And here’s the best thing. On their website, there is a link to their “Income Disclosure” page. Check it out.
Wait a minute. On their website, talking about the 21 steps, it says, “A simple 21-step training program to making your first $1,000, $3,000, or $5,000 commission with MTTB (including short, easy-to-watch videos and webinars).”
So if the 21-step program is guaranteed to work after you complete it, and it is supposed to make you $1,000, $3,000, or $5,000 in commissions, why is it that average ANNUAL GROSS income for affiliates is only $500 – $2,000? And why is it that less than 1% of people make enough to use MOBE as their sole source of income? Hmmm…makes you wonder.
Even the Federal Trade Commission warns people about this kind of company. Here is one of the tips straight from their website.
“Beware of any plan that offers commissions for recruiting new distributors, particularly when there is no product involved or when there is a separate, up-front membership fee.” If you want to check out the whole article, you can see it here https://www.ftc.gov/public-statements/1998/05/pyramid-schemes
This warning sounds like it was written for the MOBE company.
Pros vs Cons
- Some of the training will be useful to beginners, who don’t know anything about how to make money online.
- Possible to make very high commissions (if you pay their fee and don’t care about ripping people off).
- You don’t sell anything of real value.
- You make money by selling the very thing you just bought…a license to sell MOBE.
- Little customer service and support
- You need to spend lots of money to make the big commissions and you might not make it back.
- Doesn’t teach you how to build a legit business online to make money.
- MOBE is a pyramid scheme, a scam.
You may have heard the saying that you have to spend money to make money. This may be true, but if you spend your money at MOBE, it’s the same as your putting it in your fireplace to keep you warm. It might bring you a little bit of comfort, but more likely than not, you’re just wasting money.
I’m not saying that it’s impossible to make money with this system. I don’t want to pay $24,000 to make the kind of money they claim you can make, so I can’t speak from a platinum member’s point of view. However, trying to get people to spend thousands of their hard earned money to buy products with virtually little value just doesn’t sit right with me.
However, it is possible to make money with this system. If you pay the $24,000 plus $310 monthly fees and you work at it, you probably could make thousands of dollars per month. But….
Here’s a reality check.
- It won’t be easy to make that kind of money, especially if you are just starting out.
- There’s a chance you won’t make any money at all. If this happens, you will spent a lot of money with nothing to show for it.
- There have been many complaints about not being able to get in contact with anyone at MOBE and their poor customer service.
- You make money by participating in a pyramid scheme, where the company only makes money by recruiting new members.
- Products are outrageously expensive.
Don’t waste your time with this program. You will get nowhere in the long run. If you want an education on how to build a long-term, sustainable business online that makes money, the best resource out there is the Wealthy Affiliate community I mentioned above.
